NIYL Limerick NIYL is a Limerick born artist who mixes a unique blend of soulful vocals and lush, ethereal instrumentation to deliver a powerful, cinematic-like catalogue of original works. Inspired by artists including RY X, London Grammar and SYML, NIYL has ambitions to establish a new sound within the Irish music industry. Describing his works as atmo-soul, NIYL positions vocals and lyrics at the forefront of his craft, supported by a backline of collaborators who ebb and flow each piece, carrying listeners of truly dynamic musical journey mixing acoustic with minimal electronic instrumentations. A lyricist who draws inspiration from the landscapes of the Wild Atlantic Way, NIYL writes as a means of catharsis, channeling emotions through word and song, calling on elements of nature to be pillars for each work, inspired by the greats before him like Wilde and Yeats. Growing up, NIYL found beauty in song and harmony through performing as part of several choirs in Limerick City. Studying works of composers including Eric Whitacre and Karl Jenkins, NIYL draws from this experience and applies it to his own works, regarding voices joining together to tell a story as a transcendent experience. As a solo artist, NIYL has joined the National Geographic Concert Orchestra as a lead vocalist for their award winning Symphony for our World and has performed as a headline act at Irish festivals Doolin Folk Fest, Live on Air and Go Tobann. Overseas, in 2018 NIYL joined Tony winning songstress Cynthia Erivo for a week-long residency in St. James’s Theatre, London - performing the works of composer Scott Alan. As a backing vocalist NIYL has performed alongside many internationally acclaimed artists including Rufus Wainwright and Dermot Kennedy.
