Rebecca Rose Andrews-Jones Interior Architecture and Design

ABOUT ME

Rebecca Andrews-Jones

I am a currently studying Interior Architecture and Design at The Arts University Bournemouth, graduating in 2020. Throughout my journey so far I have technical skills including: Revit, Sketchup, and Adobe Creative Suite.

"graduating in 2020."

I have had a clear interest in interior design from an early age, and started to peruse this dream at age 14; in which invested my work experience placement with a local interior design company in Cornwall. Which carried on to a part time Saturday job for 4 years in the shop, dealing with customers requests and helping them choose fabrics. However, as I progressed my education through my A-levels I knew that it wasn't just interior design I was interested in, I wanted to explore architecture too.

" I wanted to explore architecture too."

As a designer, I have made myself aware of the importance of the users, the history of buildings and the context they are within, as well as taking an interest in the use of materials. As well as having a understanding of various art movements and history.

Level 4, Unit 1: Design Communication

This project was to create a Theatre Set in the location of the Shelley Theatre near Bournemouth. Inspired by the short story by Italo Calvino's "The Distance of The Moon". The limitations I faced was working with a Grade II Listed Building as well as the constraints of creating a theatre set. Level 4, Unit 2: Socially Conscious Design

Using an existing building not far from Bournemouth Town Centre (again a Grade II Listed Building) I had to create a space for the community that would work along side Charities and organisations. I chose to focus on dementia patients in the community, so I had to create a specialist space. To read more, click the link below:

Level 4, Unit 3: Integrating Technology

Working with a Grade II Listed building, built in 1932 I have created an Office Space for a Social Media Management Company, working with the history of the building, as well as using the future for workplace design to help influence my design. With particular attention, to the use of technology, sustainability and Building Regulations. Click the link for further information and images:

Level 5, Unit 1: Place Production

This unit evolved around the way of living for the future and beyond. The building I used was Dean Park House just on the outside of Bournemouth Town, a 1970s office block to convert into co-living residential flats. I created a Fun, creative and young retirement home for the 60+ generation. Click Below for more images and information:

Level 5, Unit 2: Contemporary Environment

During this unit, I chose the pathway of Architecture of Madness. This then led my design to focus on the inducement of Anxiety in Generalised Anxiety Disorder individuals, to create a way of overcoming their anxieties. evolved around the way of living for the future and beyond. The building I used was The Shelley Theatre near Bournemouth.

Understanding how the history and heritage of Southampton could be celebrated to promote a joyful and a social hub that could be used not only for journeys but a place to socialise.
