Alana Springsteen pulls back the curtain on triumph and heartbreak in her new video for “You Don’t Deserve A Country Song.”

The video opens with footage of Springsteen as a 10-year-old child at the Grand Ole Opry, confidently stating that she’s “gonna be there.” The video then jumps to 12 years later with footage of Springsteen energetically entertaining a large crowd.

“You Don’t Deserve A Country Song” is an empowering, toe-tapping banger that Springsteen wrote with Mitchell Tenpenny, Geoff Warburton, Will Weatherly and Michael Whitworth about enduring a breakup. In the song, she tells her ex that “you don’t deserve a country song.”

Chris LaCorte and Weatherly co-produced the song, and David Bradley and Springsteen co-directed the video and Bradley produced it.

“I wrote this song around the time I remember finally being in a good place after my last relationship ended,” Springsteen said. “At some point, I looked around at this beautiful life I was building, all of the incredible moments and milestones I’ve experienced over the last year or two; and decided I wasn’t going to let this heartbreak overshadow all of the unforgettable things that were happening around me. It would have been easy to make this video about heartbreak, but that’s not the message I wanted to send with this song. I want everyone to know that what matters most are the people and moments along the way. This video does that. “

The 22 year old said the video is stacked with some of her favorite experiences from the last few years, but one of the most special is how she opens the video – the footage of her touring the Grand Ole Opry when she was 10 years old.

“I felt so inspired that day, watching Luke Bryan perform from side stage,” she said of her first experience at the Opry. “I remember being so confident when I looked at the camera and said, ‘I’m gonna be there.’ Then getting to shoot the performance for this video the day of my Opry debut 12 years later… it all still gives me chills. I just want to make that little girl proud. There’s also a picture at the end of the video of little me sitting on the purple couch in the Porter Wagoner dressing room. You can see the stars in my eyes. That’s the exact same room and the same couch in the video. Truly one of the most epic full circle moments I’ve had so far.”

Springsteen hopes the video reminds fans that whatever they’re going through, they can always reclaim their confidence and power and can focus on the good in their lives.

“No one deserves to take your happiness,” she said. “Watching this video had me feeling incredibly nostalgic and grateful. I’ve been moving so fast the past few years, and it’s easy to put blinders on and forget what’s actually happening. Seeing all of these moments back-to-back like this helped put it all into perspective again and reinforced that I’m on the right path. It also made me realize how much my fans carried me through one of the hardest times in my life. Those moments do more to heal me than they’ll ever know.”
