Celebrate your achievements with the EAL Quality Mark

Why should your school get involved?

Apart from the obvious benefit of knowing you’ve done well, this process will enable you to record evidence of your success, expertise and skills in meeting the needs of EAL learners. It will also assist you in identifying areas for further development through the school improvement process. You will emerge from this process with clear targets, plans for further improvements and a great reason to celebrate!

Registration and pricing

To participate in the EAL Quality Mark costs £950 plus any travelling expenses incurred for the validation visit (all exclusive of VAT). You will receive a free copy of our popular EAL Handbook at the beginning of the process to support your evaluation.

For further information or to register for the award please complete the enquiry form below and we will be in touch to answer your questions and get you started.

While there is no expiry date on our award certificates, we recommend that schools renew their award every 3 years, in line with standard best practice.

What our clients say

Suitable for UK state schools and international schools globally

Originally developed for UK schools to support qualification of EAL provision, the EAL Quality Mark criteria have been adapted for international schools, to reflect the different challenges faced by schools operating in countries where English may not be the first language.

Soofia Amin from Kensington Primary School (UK) explains why her school found the EAL Quality Mark so useful.

Gary Crick from The International School @Park City, KL (Malaysia) explains why his school got involved and how they helped us to adapt the criteria for international schools.

How does it work?

The EAL Quality Mark is based on a school’s self-evaluation of its EAL provision.
We provide step by step guidance and validate your findings through a half day visit from one of our team.
Schools will examine their practice in three key areas:
Your school will be evaluated on your ability to give all learners the opportunity for rapid and sustained improvement and to deliver an inclusive curriculum which promotes language development alongside learning.
On successful completion, we provide an award certificate to display in your school and the EAL Quality Mark logo which you can include in your literature and on your website.

We also celebrate the achievements of schools that do well on our blog.

Qualification of EAL provision at Eastover Community Primary School

We initially carried out the self assessment for the EAL Quality Mark as we wished to have our efforts recognised and celebrated. We were amazed when we collected all the evidence of how much we have in place and our expertise. However, the Quality Mark did so much more than this. By exploring our practice in the three areas of leadership and management, teaching, learning and assessment and working with parents and the community we were able to identify where we needed to make improvements and establish clear areas for development and future plans. It was exactly what we needed.

Tried and tested strategies from an experienced EAL Coordinator
Lynsey was initially looking for qualification of her EAL provision and is now the tutor for one of our most popular online courses!
