Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids, Materials in Contact with Food, and Cosmetics

The panel is responsible for assessing issues on safety in the use of food additives, flavourings, processing aids, materials in contact with food and drinking water, chemicals used for water treatment and residues from biocides.

In addition the Panel is responsible for safety evaluations of cosmetics.

Independent and transparent

VKM is appointed by the Ministry of Health and Care Services. VKM is organized as an independent body, fulfilling the national requirement for independent, transparent and open scientific risk assessments.

Risk assessments in VKM follow current international standards and methodology in the respective fields of responsibility for VKMs panels.
