WASHINGTON, DC – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) released the following statement welcoming the new Republican members to the House Ways and Means Committee for the 118th Congress following today’s decision by the House Republican Steering Committee:

“Ways and Means Republicans are ready to get to work delivering on our commitment to build a stronger economy that gives the American people greater opportunity to build a prosperous future for themselves and their families. We will prioritize our most valuable economic resource, the American worker, by working to ensure a tax code that supports the millions of working-class families who are struggling in the Biden economy. We will exercise our Constitutional oversight role to hold the Biden Administration accountable for the crises it caused and get answers on the White House’s abuse of power. We will partner with the American people in our work by hitting the road and holding hearings outside of Washington to hear directly from folks on the ground in our communities about their struggles and their ideas to create more jobs, increase wages, and build a more secure future for their families.”
