Reporter, Bre Hayne, is on the hunt for a story. Finally, her big career break has fallen into her lap, and she has chance to get the scoop on one of the notoriously private shifters. But the deeper into the story she goes, the more she realizes maybe Holt isn’t the one who is the monster. Maybe it’s her.

Alligator shifter, Holt Lachlan, is the center of an unfortunate legend. His family name has been tarnished by these swamps for generations, and he has to go outside of the town to try and find a mate. Desperate for something to occupy his inner animal, he meets up with a spunky beauty named Bre, and tells her the rules. The most important rule? Pretend he’s normal. Ignore the growling, don’t pay attention to his eye color, and definitely don’t go anywhere near the waters of Uncertain’s swamp at night. He’s protective of his territory, but the more he gets to know the bold and beguiling woman who has answered his ad, the more he thinks she just might survive his dark secrets…but will he survive hers?

Bre and her cameraman Brian are going to Uncertain, Texas in hopes of picking up a story that will help them pick up better reporting stories moving forward. However, Bre is not sure she wants to do this particular job and after one day with Holt, the growly and prickly shifter, she soon learns there is more to him that what animal he can shift into.

This story was phenomenal in that we had for the first time in a long time absolutely brand new characters and a whole new shifter world to explore and fall in love with❣️ Bre and Holt are my new favourite characters and I’m looking forward to Liam’s story next😍

The writing is the same, but the content.
Different.

You've got a Gatah looking for something to keep him steady and a Reporter looking for her big break. No Crew, just a man on his own with his dog and some poachers breathing down his neck.

This is the first book I have read with an alligator shifter. I was unsure what it would be like because of the shifter animal but I enjoyed this book, the story, characters and writing style. I like how she accepts him and loves him even for all his fault and what he is which he tells her continuously that he is dangerous. This is a nice for a change, for although there is a certain amount of protectiveness from Holt as an alligator, he can’t have that other close bond with Bre as a shifter as some shifter books have. that maybe a wolf or other animal could have. There was still enough of the animal in him It was a very fast romance and alligators don’t really take one mate, as explained in the book, but this alligator does. Interesting to learn about alligators and I like their chemistry and conversation. I liked the dog Fargo and grandmother. Now I want to read Liam’s story…

This is a different series, cause, let's face it, gators are not cuddly. Wolves, bears, big cats... They can be cuddly. Reptiles? Not so much. But, Joyce has done it again. Holt's and Bre's story is different and enjoyable. Written with Joyce's usual humor and strong characters it was a good read.

I’ve honestly loved every book, every series by T.S. Joyce. I was kinda curious what to expect after leaving the mountains we’ve read about and the characters she’s brought to us. Goodness even the shifters before Damon’s Mountain - her writing gives us real love. No Prince Charming, no hallmark posters of the perfect couple and cookie cutter romance.

You get flaws. Imperfections that make each character and story a true treasure.

I highly recommend all her other books, but if you starts anywhere here is a great one.

Avoiding spoilers as it’s not my thing...you get two people quirks galore, figuring out life as best they can. Honest feelings, mistakes and rewards for being true to yourself and what makes your heart beat faster.

This series and any by this author are for any paranormal romance reader out there!

I’ve read all of T S Joyce’s books and always look forward to reading them. In her more recent series I’d started to get the impression that her writing was getting a bit ‘by the numbers’ predictable, albeit still enjoyable. This book is not only the start of a new series, it is also a new location and completely new characters which all makes for a refreshing change. I also noticed an evolution in her style of writing with some great descriptive passages of the swamp where the story takes place - I could really picture it in my minds eye. The book has many of T S Joyce’s hallmarks; humour, snark, a touch of sadness and of course a happy (possibly slightly improbable) ending. But it at the same time it feels different to me in some intangible way - different in a good way. I’m looking forward to the next book.
