Highlights

Ultimate East Africa safari

Experience a safari adventure that combines East Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations, including the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti in Tanzania, and the Masai Mara in Kenya.

Begin in the three-million-year-old Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife utopia full of silvery-cheeked hornbills, spotted hyenas and Grant’s gazelles. From here, head to Tanzania’s Serengeti grasslands, teeming with legendary creatures. You’ll camp in classic safari-style.

Then it’s on to Kenya and its picture-perfect savannahs, home to a roster of iconic African animals. Explore the famed Masai Mara where you may witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, and finish with sightseeing in Nairobi.

Arrive Tanzania

On arrival in Tanzania you will be met and transferred to Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge for an overnight stop to allow you to recover from your international flight ready for your safari starting the next day.

Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater

This morning you’ll be picked up in an A&K Land Cruiser, specially adapted for 360-degree views. The Ngorongoro is a vast green basin of savannah and the world’s largest caldera. Your base for the next few nights is a tented camp that opens up to the wilderness. Take it all in as you dine alfresco.

Ngorongoro Crater

Take the full day to explore the Ngorongoro Crater, a biodiverse hotspot of savannah and rolling acacia. Stretching over 260 square kilometres, its extinct crater floor is teeming with exquisite wildlife, more than justifying its UNESCO World Heritage status. Surrounded by deep escarpment walls, explore this wildlife cornucopia with unadulterated freedom. You’ll see herds of zebra, elephant and lion. Depending on the time of year, you may also see flamingos in their thousands.

Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti

This morning your A&K guide will drive you to the Serengeti. The journey will take three hours depending on how many times you stop to soak up the scenery or how long you linger over a picnic. Arrive at your next camp in the late afternoon and kick back with a sundowner and some sofa safari.

Serengeti

There’s a reason why the Serengeti is at the top of every safari wish list. Not only does it play host to the great wildebeest migration for 9 months of the year, but its wildlife-packed plains offer some of the continent’s most rewarding sights. Explore classic safari country where every day you can spot roaming lions, cheetahs and elephants galore. You’ll be treated to buffalo sightings, herds of zebras and giraffe sprinkling the landscape as well as around 500 bird species including ostriches and marabou storks. Its rocky outcrops and rivers offer picturesque backdrops from where you can watch the action unfold.

Serengeti - Mara

Today say goodbye to your A&K safari guide as you hop on a flight from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara. These two national parks divided by a land border and allow for wildlife to move freely. Welcome to the country’s famed nature reserve where your chic retreat awaits. Drop your bags and head straight out onto the reserve’s rolling hills in a 4x4, eyes peeled for the Big 5. On return, stroll down to the camp fire for a sundowner. Overlooking the Mara River, you can often spot hippos and crocodiles while you relax.

Masai Mara

Spend the next two days exploring the ancient Masai Mara with an expert guide. Set off across the acacia-dotted plains, home to Masai tribes, scanning for leopards, elephants and rhinos. Between July and August, you have the opportunity to witness massive herds of wildebeests crossing crocodile-infested rivers and moving through the grasslands. For the best bird’s eye views over the herds, take to the skies in a hot air balloon. You’ll be treated to homemade pastries and a glass of champagne when you land.

Masai Mara to Nairobi

Enjoy a morning safari drive before your return flight back to Nairobi, enjoy a half day sightseeing in the capital. A day room has been reserved for you at Hemingway’s Nairobi so you can relax and enjoy dinner before your overnight flight home arriving the next day.
