Our Academy

Every health and social care professional has the potential to introduce widespread and meaningful changes to care of patients and people in the community through applied health research.

The NIHR ARC North Thames Academy supports people working in universities, local health and social care sectors and other stakeholders to co-produce applied health research and put outputs into practice. Our goal is to help foster a sustainable local research community by building research capacity and providing an effective support network.

We provide training and engagement opportunities for our partner members and those working in applied health and care research. These training opportunities range from CPD workshops to mentoring and networking schemes to funded PhD studentships. We also host seminars throughout the year to promote discussion on key topics.

As the situation with the COVID-19 global pandemic has evolved, our approach to providing teaching and support has also evolved with it. Although our face-to-face courses have been temporarily suspended, we are providing online professional development activities and training opportunities for researchers, health and care staff, early career researchers, and PhD students in academic, health and social care organisations.
