Clinical study on muscle maintenance after the menopause How much protein can prevent muscle loss in middle-aged women on a weight-loss diet? Until recently, nobody knew. Now the results are in from our clinical study at Aarhus University. They show that a daily dose of 35g whey protein could help maintain muscle mass in postmenopausal women when dieting to lose weight. That’s particularly important at an age when women are already vulnerable to declining muscle mass and strength. 40 women aged 55+ took part in the study which has been published in The Journal of Nutrition for American Society for Nutrition. Volac, a UK-based company specializing in whey ingredients for sports nutrition, operates a state-of-the-art whey processing facility in Felinfach, Wales. Through this partnership, we aim to unlock the full potential of whey worldwide and deliver innovative ingredients to meet the growing market demand.
