Biography

Dr. Emmanuel Sirimal Silva is Interim Director Fashion Business Research and Reader in Applied Statistics at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. Prior to his current role, Emmanuel joined LCF as a Lecturer in Quantitative Methods in 2015 and also held the post of Course Leader MSc (Integrated) Strategic Fashion Management. During Emmanuel's tenure as Course Leader, the course achieved an impressive 94.4% overall student satisfaction rating through the 2019 National Student Survey. In 2021, Emmanuel developed and launched the innovative and world's first MSc Fashion Analytics and Forecasting course at LCF.

He has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles with over 2100 citations (Google Scholar). His publications appear in highly ranked and well-reputed journals such as; International Journal of Forecasting, International Marketing Review, Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Forecasting, Physica A, Research in Economics, Applied Economics, Fluctuation and Noise Letters, and International Economics (to name a few).

As an applied statistician, Emmanuel has diverse research interests which include time series analysis and forecasting with Singular Spectrum Analysis with applications in fashion business, tourism, and economics. In recognition of his contributions to research he has been invited to serve on the editorial boards of International Journal of Forecasting (AJG 3*), Tourism Economics (AJG 2*), and Annals of Tourism Research Empirical Insights. In addition to his teaching commitments, Emmanuel also supervises three PhD students and has successfully secured research funding for Fashion Business Research Centre via external research bids and consultancy projects. Emmanuel is the recipient of a BSc (Hons) Economics and Actuarial Science, an MSc Risk Management from the University of Southampton, UK, PG Cert Academic Practice in Art, Design and Communication (University of the Arts London), and a Ph.D. in Statistics from the Bournemouth University, UK. He is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.
