This issue of SSR is an unusual one - as well as a practical theme taking us towards applications of engineering from science education, guest edited by Berry Billingsley, we have a very topical discussion article on the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, in which a physics teacher and a biology teacher try to explain the reasons behind some of the current advice and information being given in the media.  SSR is not a news magazine, but this extraordinary situation in which the world finds itself provided an opportunity to include a very current article - one that literally had to be changed almost on a daily basis right up to going to press.  This, and the unusual working conditions that prevail at time of writing, meant that this issue of SSR has been published somewhat late - we hope that you understand the reasons!
