2022-23 CAPE Policy Fellows Programme for Policy Professionals

Context

Policy professionals including those working in UK central government, local government and the civil society sector in the UK are invited to apply for a Policy Fellowship opportunity offered by CAPE.

The CAPE policy fellows programme is a flexible professional development programme which offers access to leading researchers across a range of disciplines at the five CAPE partner universities: the University of Cambridge, University College London, University of Manchester, University of Nottingham, and Northumbria University. The Fellowship offers the chance to pose policy questions, to be matched with academic researchers able to provide input and to develop a network of academic experts.

What is involved?

The programme begins with each CAPE Fellow spending the equivalent of five days having 1:1 and small group meetings with academics. We anticipate that these introductory meetings will start during the second quarter of 2022.

CAPE will subsequently support Fellows to interact with academics at the 5 partner universities and beyond and build on the connections that they make, to pursue their professional policy objectives with academic input. There will also be opportunities to co-design events, host academic placements and apply for seed funding for joint projects with researchers among other elements to the CAPE project.

About CAPE

CAPE is a partnership between UCL and the universities of Cambridge, Manchester, Northumbria and Nottingham, in collaboration with the Government Office for Science, the Parliamentary Office for Science & Technology, the Alliance for Useful Evidence, and the Transforming Evidence Hub, funded by Research England. It is a four-year collaboration created to support effective and sustained engagement between academics and policy professionals across the higher education sector.
