Translator’s Guide to Information Security

Who is this workshop for?

This is an online workshop on terminology and concepts used in cyber and information security policies. If you’re a translator who is looking to work with information security and technical policies in corporate environments, then this workshop is for you.

Throughout this workshop, James will cover:

  • Introduction to common information security concepts and the contexts in which they are used

  • Acronyms and jargon common across the field
  • Policy, procedures, standards, and guides in terms of a security framework
  • Common security framework awareness (ISO 27k, NIST, Cyber Essentials, SOC 2) and how to use these to guide translation

After the workshop, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the concepts used within security frameworks, standards, and documentation
  • Recognise the most common security frameworks and the controls within them
  • Understand the core concepts within information and cyber security

Course outline

  • Core concepts of information security – risk management terminology and the CIA model
  • Common frameworks – ISO 27001, NIST, and associated controls
  • Meaning and usage of common jargon used within the field and documentation
