Premiere: Tyla Yaweh Drops Video for "Who Shot Johnny?"

Tyla also shared a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the visual.

Tyla Yaweh drops the official video for "Who Shot Johnny?," a standout track from his debut project, Heart Full of Rage.

The Arrad-directed visual, premiering on Complex, illustrates the subjects addressed in the record, including gun violence, the illegal drug trade, and the broken criminal justice system. We see Tyla inside a trap house, while authorities knock on the door trying to speak to any witnesses of a nearby fatal shooting.

"I see them red and blue lights/And they screaming that Johnny got hit on the corner," Tyla raps in the track, later spitting, "Yeah, 12 beating on the door looking for some witnesses/Ain't nobody tell 'em shit 'cause they know what the business is."

The visual was filmed in Tyla's hometown of Orlando, Florida, but the rapper says "Who Shot Johnny?" was intended for people living in inner-cities across the country.

"'Who Shot Johnny?' represents a major part of my journey and story," he told Complex. "It’s also a dope ass song for the hood. 'Johnny' represents the n***as in the neighborhoods across America. I didn’t wanna sugar coat any of these stories; we was raised differently."

Tyla is now preparing to release a second project, set to drop in the fall, and is gearing up to hit the road on Post Malone and Swae Lee's North American Runaway Tour.
