Clinical Academic Fellowships

The aim of this scheme is to build research capacity in the Scottish NHS as such it provides the opportunity for clinical professionals early in their career to undertake a PhD. The eligibility for this scheme includes doctors and dentists in training, GPs, GDP’s, NMAHPS, Healthcare scientists and Pharmacists. Partner Fellowships

For the August 2023 round we have partnered with charitable organisations and are able to offer two jointly funded partnership fellowships.

The Colt Foundation

The Colt Foundation funds research into occupational and environmental causes of ill health with a particular interest in research that will inform policy and improve working conditions for all.  By partnering with CSO, the Colt Foundation wish to support clinical and allied health professional develop their long term academic careers within the area of work and health.  For further information on the remit please visit the Colt Foundation website

MND Scotland

MND Scotland funds research into all aspects of motor neurone disease (MND) from understanding the mechanisms underlying MND and identifying new targets for therapies to improving standards of care. They want to support the career development of clinicians while enabling them to undertake academic research in MND. For further information on the remit please visit the MND Scotland Website.

The application process and timing of these fellowships will be the same as for the standard CSO fellowships. Successful applicants will become part of the CSO cohort but with the additional benefits that come from being funded by a charity partner.
