This eLearning course is divided into 8 modules, each 60 minutes long (2 parts of 4 modules each). It will equip participants to understand signal generation, image formation, sequences, image quality, quantitative imaging, advanced techniques, image interpretation and safety in MRI.

Description

Confirmation of Attendance
To receive the confirmation of attendance, participants have to join a minimum of 2 modules out of 4 per part.

Certificate of Competency
To receive a certificate of competency, participants have to pass a multiple-choice test after the completion of the course. The multiple-choice test should be taken within one week after the end of the modules.

Recordings
All modules will be recorded and recordings will be provided to registered participants for 4 weeks after the end of the course.

AIM

Are you already familiar with spins and k-space? Are you’re eager to delve deeper into these concepts and gain a comprehensive understanding of MRI physics? ESMRMB presents an online eLearning course tailored for clinicians, biologists, radiographers, and technicians who work with MRI or have a keen interest in utilizing MRI for research. The course is designed to accommodate participants with varying levels of experience in MR techniques and MR physics. Whether you’re just starting or looking to enhance your existing knowledge, this course is the perfect fit for you.

The eLearning course consists of 8 modules, each lasting 60 minutes. These modules occur weekly and include a self-assessment test to reinforce your learning. You’ll have the unique opportunity to attend live lectures presented by experts in the field. The course also promotes direct interaction with the speakers during the lectures and dedicated question-and-answer sessions at the end of each module.

For added flexibility, the course is divided into two parts, allowing for independent registrations. All lectures are recorded and accessible on demand. A minimum number of attendance is required for a certificate of attendance and a successful passing of the self-assessment test for a certificate of competence.

 

GOALS

Attendance of the course on practical MR physics for clinicians, biologists, radiographers and technicians will enable you to understand:

  • signal and contrast generation in MR images at different conditions (morphological, biophysical and technical)
  • image formation and reconstruction
  • basic and advanced MR sequences for your clinical questions and avoid pitfalls
  • how to assess and enhance image quality by optimizing sequence and imaging parameters
  • quantitative imaging and the use of contrast agents
  • advanced MRI techniques such as diffusion imaging, perfusion sequences, functional MRI and PET/MRI
  • how MR images can be interpreted back to tissue components and functional activities
  • safe applications of MRI by knowing the involved hardware components and basic safety risks

Course Rationale

The scientific event aims to optimize the diagnostic pathway of prostate cancer through the reasoned use of multiparametric MRI (MRI-mp) and “in-bore” MRI-guided biopsy. The main professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer (Radiologist, Urologist, Radiotherapist, Uropathologist, Radiographer) will be the lecturers of the course.
All participants will be provided with workstations for Clinical Case review, and will observe an MRI-guided biopsy of live case first-hand.

Particular attention will be given in the clinical cases, to patients with an indication to perform “in-bore” MRI-guided prostate biopsy:

  • PI-RADS 3-5 lesions with negative standard and/or fusion ultrasound guided biopsy;
  • Reclassification biopsy in patients on active surveillance with suspected clinical-laboratory and/or radiological progression;
  • Patients with suspected MRI lesions <8mm in size or with lesions in “difficult” sites (cranial, anterior).

The clinical cases to be presented as “live cases” will involve patients with lesions classified with PI-RADS category 3-5 in accordance with PI-RADS v2.1.
After a review of the patients’ MRI-mp and clinical history in the morning session, course participants will be divided into two groups to observe the MRI-guided biopsies of the same patients presented in the “live cases” session.
Other cases will be presented and reviewed under the guidance of the tutors. The patient’s entire diagnostic process will be reviewed, covering the procession from the initial request, through clinical findings, radiological examinations, mpMRI, biopsy and final outcome.

ESMRMB-GREC Meeting 2024

The ESMRMB-GREC meeting is designed as a unique context aimed at sharing ideas and data on MRI contrast agents research and possible gadolinium toxicity after the administration of gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs). We believe that joint international efforts will remain essential to optimize diagnostic efficacy and improve patient safety in MR imaging. Since 2016, the ESMRMB-GREC has adapted the contents of the discussion to current hot topics and has evolved in style even in difficult circumstances imposed by the pandemic restrictions.

MR Safety Course: Reshape Your Skills

The MRI-RADS in 10 Cases

November 7-8, 2024, Porto/PT

The live training course is organized to allow leaders who have long-time experience in the use of the specific RADS scoring system to give a 90 minute training course of definite and conflictual interactive cases. A total of 18 hours of interactive cases is planned through the whole course.

Since 1993, Reporting and Data Systems (RADS), firstly proposed by the American College of Radiology, have proliferated as a standardized methodology for reporting on imaging findings. Among others, RADS apply to findings in MRI and are meant to reduce the variability in diagnostic reports, to facilitate communication in radiology and to provide a framework for clinical decision and patient management.

Despite the effort that has been done, only few have been implemented into clinical practice while the most are not yet generally used or their impact have been underestimated without any documented evidence on efficacy and efficiency in the MRI workflow.

The implementation of RADS requires standard terminology, probability-based diagnostic approach, image assessment finalized to categorization, structured reporting.

In addition, the fast evolving world of MRI and its nature as a multiparametric modality require constant monitoring of RADS and eventually adaptations for accuracy improvement.
