About this event

The Community Partnerships Unit within The Council has been in the process of creating a food action plan. As the pandemic has highlighted the issues of food poverty in the borough, we are hoping to create a plan for the future to tackle these issues. Our steering group has helped us to identify five pillars of our action plan. We have decided to put on a workshop for each pillar. The aim of these will be to discuss the main issues and understand the current situation from those directly involved in these areas, and to come up with solutions and actions we want to take to try and tackle to problems. The five pillars are:

• Food Insecurity

• Tackling food waste

• Access to healthy affordable food (this will include food growing, access to markets, healthy food etc)

• Supporting older and vulnerable adults

• Addressing health issues (diabetes, obesity)

This workshop will discuss the issue of food insecurity. Our discussion will surround three key questions.

• What are the key challenges you are seeing that we need to address?

• What solutions do recommend or key actions that should be taken to address the issue?

• What data can we share to gain a greater understanding of the current situation in Hounslow?

We will use the workshop to inform our food action plan moving forward.
