Welcome to the Clinical Skills Core Competency Framework programme.
This training programme has been designed to provide Care Homes with a training and competency framework.
The training is aimed to provide the skills to complete in general healthcare tasks and framework to guide and record the competency*.
What to Expect
This is a 3-day Course (All 3 days must be complete to receive certification of attendance)
All 3 days must be booked separately
Day One will include.
Monitoring the skin
Undertaking Blood Glucose Monitoring
Manage catheter care systems and common trouble shooting
Day Two will include:
Simple Skin dressings for skin tears / reapplying dressings in an emergency (first aid)
Recognizing falls risks and falls prevention
Demonstrate effective infection prevention and control measures
Day Three will include:
Understanding Dementia
Recognizing and Responding to a patient at the end of life
Mouth Care
Who is this training for?
It is suited to any non-registered healthcare professionals working with Birmingham’s Care Homes who either require refresher training or are new to working and supporting residents within a Care Home environment.
It may also be beneficial for team leaders or care home management to attend as a refresher of skills and to learn more about how to implement or adapt this framework into your Care Home training provision.
(Hot Refreshments will be provided but delegates will need to provide their own lunch / snacks)

*PLEASE NOTE THE TRAINING COURSE IS AIMED TO SUPPORT DELEGATES TO BE WORKING TOWARDS HAVING COMPETENCIES SIGNED OFF AS APPROPRIATE. UPON COMPLETION OF THE COURSE AND DEMONSTRATION OF COMPETENCY WITHIN THEIR OWN WORKPLACE. IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DELEGATES SENIOR/LINE MANAGER TO SIGN OFF THE DELEGATES COMPETENCY WITHIN THEIR OWN WORKPLACE.
