About this event

This training is suitable for anyone actively connecting with children or young people including parents, carers, teachers, youth workers and leaders and health and social care professionals.

We will cover depression, self harm. eating disorders, and bullying and will provide the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions. start a supportive conversation, and provide guidance on signposting to professional help. Learners will learn how to recognise and manage stress. Learners will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put the plan in place.

Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be done by healthcare professionals. but will be able to identify when a young person may have a suspected mental health condition, offer reassurance and support, and know sources of help. On successful completion of the course, participants can gain this accredited award at scqf level 5.. Participants must be aged 14 years or over.

Tea/coffee/juice & biscuits are provided free of charge. Participants can bring a packed lunch or get something nearby. Please advise the trainer of any specific dietary requirements.
