About this event

You’re invited to a virtual event on Ofcom’s approach to online media literacy. Chief Executive Dame Melanie Dawes will introduce highlights from our recent publication alongside Yih-Choung Teh, Ofcom's Group Director for Strategy & Research, and the Making Sense of Media team.

The free online event will be held on Friday, 21 January from 10:30-11:45.

We will present our vision and workplan across five areas: engaging with a wide range of media literacy practitioners; initiating pilot trials and campaigns to promote media literacy, establishing best practice design principles for media literacy; providing guidance on evaluation and evidence of what works, and researching the state of media literacy and sharing our evidence base.

This workplan builds on our existing research and evaluation, alongside our existing collaborative approach. We have identified two further priority areas - working with platforms on design principles and supporting underserved users.

Recognising the wealth of expertise and interest in these areas, the event will be interactive, and we’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.

As part of the registration please indicate which area you are most keen to explore in more detail, noting that Engage will be covered as a cross-cutting theme for each topic:
