We would be delighted if you could join us on Wednesday 26 April for an exclusive Open University online event created especially for our wonderful alumni community.

Join us for an exclusive Open University alumni event filled with fascinating speakers and expert academics from across your University – OpenMinds Live. This event will bring to life just some of the stories in the Open Minds magazine in an exciting live event.

There is plenty to look forward to in what promises to be a truly fascinating afternoon where we share some of the projects, research, and heartfelt stories from across our OU family.

Speakers' include:

  • Dr Marjan Ajevski, Lecturer in Law, Faculty of Business and Law: Space law - governing the universe? In this talk Marjan will give a whistlestop tour of how space law manages and, sometimes, fails to regulate human activities in outer space.
  • Dr Margaret Ebubedike, Research Associate (Int Education)Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies and Dr Saraswati Dawadi, Research Associate, Institute of Educational Technology: The academic team explored the practices used by two NGO shelters in Nepal and Nigeria, to support the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of female human trafficking survivors and at-risk populations of adolescent girls aged 10-19.
  • Professor Rosalind Crone, Head of History and Director of Knowledge Exchange and Impact for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: What did education in the 19th century prison look like? And what can we learn from the 19th century experience which might help us to improve education in prisons today?
  • Tim Plyming, Managing Director, Microcredentials & Short Courses, Research, Enterprise and Scholarship Unit: The Open University is continuing to develop our course offer beyond traditional qualifications to offer a range of high quality short courses focused on in-demand skills areas. Learn more about the OU’s pioneering work in this area and plans for the future.
