About this event

Lockdown has created unprecedented challenges for local authorities and social work and social care practice, the effect of many of which will last well beyond the current pandemic. Going forward these challenges will be made more complex by new and emerging risks and difficulties associated with the easing of lockdown.

The persisting anxieties and risk of COVID-19 contagion combined with unprecedented rise in unemployment will result in significant economic and psychosocial challenges for families leading to familial stress and increase in poverty with significant impact on children and families lives and wellbeing. Therefore, this webinar examines some of the challenges going forward and their impact in practice while suggesting helpful ways of supporting and safeguarding children and families as we move out of lockdown.

Guest speakers: Dr. Peter Buzzi (PSW National Research Lead), Claudia Megele (Chair of the PSW network for children and families), Sarah Blackmore (Executive Director Social Work England), Yvette Stanley (Ofsted National Director for Social Care) and more

Chair: Dr Michael Sanders, Chief Executive, What Works for Children's Social Care
