Covid-19 Rapid Response & Shaping the Future Together

Between March and June 2020 we developed a Rapid Response project supporting over 120 local groups across Scotland. The immediate focus was on providing food & essentials, especially for older people, homeless people, women at increased risk of domestic violence, refugees & asylum seekers. In addition, groups helped people stay connected & included (by phone/internet as well as by post/print for those unable to do digital technology) as much as possible, and families to engage in creative & healthy activity. You can find out more here.

Following the success of the Rapid Response project , we launched our Shaping the Future Together initiative in August 2020. Faith groups and associated community anchor organisations from around the country were invited to take part; and it quickly took shape - with grant funding given out to each participating group, as well as monthly online group meetings , and one-to-one staff support. The monthly group meetings provided an important space where groups could connect with one and other and learn about how others were responding to the current and future difficulties posed by COVID.

In January 2021 we launched A Wee Boost - a programme encouraging communities to keep people as hopeful and connected as possible, during the winter lockdown and the difficult start to the year. A range of activities were carried out, including online storytelling, online cooking classes and surprise deliveries of afternoon teas to people living alone. 36 groups were supported between January and March 2021, from Orkney to the Borders.
