is on page 230 of 268 of Brave New World: Bernard Marx grovels at the feet of the Controller, betraying his friends in a dismal display of cowardice. He isn't even threatened with torture: he is to be sent to a remote island of like minded social misfits. I suppose Orwell used this scene for the horrible outburst of the man faced with Room 101 in 1984...To my miind, Huxley's dystopia of 'soft' persuasion is far more probable...
