Communication and Storytelling Skills: Improve how you communicate with colleagues, staff, patients and carers

The importance of strategic communication was highlighted during the pandemic. Effective communicators use storytelling techniques to engage their audience and where necessary, change behaviour. This course will introduce delegates to the four forms of communication, storytelling and bridging techniques, and how to create a memorable narrative. It is an interactive course with a mixture of learnings and practice.

Effective communication is a powerful tool, ensuring smooth and productive dealings with colleagues, staff, patients and clients. Developing a narrative for you and your organisation is a fundamental part of any communication planning. Using storytelling techniques helps make any interaction more memorable; the audience hears what is said and is more likely to follow actions suggested.

Creating a narrative and listening to other’s stories can be team building and establish internal and external relationships. This interactive masterclass will share the pillars of communication, the techniques to be used in such meetings; how to create a narrative, and using group role play, enable participants to practise their learnings. It will reference the storytelling policy advocated by the local government association.

Anyone who realises the importance of effective strategic communication, both with internal colleagues and external associates, clients and stakeholders should attend.
