Story

On the 15th May, during the Covid-19 pandemic, 78 year old Army veteran and Legionnaire John Thompson steps out once again!

John has been raising funds for charities every year for the past 48 years and this year is no different! This time John will be doing a 50 mile walk over 5 days for the Royal British Legion (Legion Scotland) in their centenary year.

Legion Scotland have not been getting as much funds this year due to the pandemic but their work still continues.  Legion Scotland provide all types of assistance to their 23,124 members across 38 branches throughout Scotland.  They organise many comradeship events, trips to war graves, cemeteries, remembrance parades and many more.

Their small team of just 10 people have their own pension advocacy team fighting for veterans disablement pensions.  They have in the last year won over £1,000,000 in payments to veterans community support which provides over 3,327 different types of support.

It would be great if all the 23,124 members gave a donation through my JustGiving page (and any non members donations will be extremely welcome too!).

Moto: Service, not self.
