Year In TV FAQ

Frequently asked questions:

1.How do I apply?

Please visit https://www.kent.ac.uk/kmtv/year-in-tv

Fill in a short online form. If we can confirm your place, you will receive an email with instructions on how to switch your course from three years to four years.

2.Who is eligible?

All second or third-year students who are averaging a 2:1 in their degree are eligible to join us.  If this is something you are concerned about, please get in touch.

3. Is my place guaranteed?

There are a limited number of places available, but we aim to accommodate as many students as we can.

Apply as soon as possible to secure your place.

4. How many days will I need to be in the office?

You will be required in the office two days a week. However, there are plenty of additional opportunities to join in on filming, news activities, and other projects throughout the week.

5. What modules will I take?

The programme has two academic modules that will take place on the Medway campus.

6. Where will I be based?

You will be based at our offices on the Medway campus. The office is easily accessible by bus, train and shuttle.

7. What about funding?

Year in programmes should be viewed simply as an additional year of study, making a three-year degree into a four-year degree.

If you pay your own tuition fees, then you will need to pay for an extra year.

For those eligible, student loans should normally be available for all four years. However, it is your responsibility to check with the relevant authority (such as Student Finance England) that they will continue to give you financial support on the new programme. Further advice is available from the Kent Finance Office at Medway: ukmfinance@kent.ac.uk
