On 1 May 2004 the people of Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia became citizens of the EU.     In the past #20YearsTogether, both the EU and the newly joined countries witnessed growth and prosperity.    Thanks to EU investments and funds, modern infrastructure and connections have been built across all EU countries.     From the reconstruction of Eleftheria square in Cyprus to establishing an Oncology centre offering advanced diagnostics and treatment in Malta – plenty of EU funded projects have helped the economies of these countries grow, contributing to the wellbeing and prosperity of its citizens.    Today we are stronger together and each country is better off thanks to EU membership.    Can you spot your country’s success story?

Only through unity and solidarity are we able to maintain the European project.    Tomorrow, we will celebrate the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration – a milestone in our history that set the foundation for the European Union as we know it today.    “Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create a de facto solidarity” — Robert Schuman 🇪🇺    And so, our Union began as a peace initiative, from 6 to 27 countries.     Let’s continue to work to build a brighter, more united future for all of us. Together, we are stronger!    ▶️ Discover the story behind the Declaration → https://europa.eu/!prcMPB   #EuropeDay#EUHistory
