Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charity
Non-profit Organizations
An industry forum that seeks to improve the participation of the neurodivergent in the workplace.
About us
Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) is an industry forum that seeks to improve the inclusion of neurodivergent people in the workforce. Led by neurodivergent experts and those with direct experience of neurodiversity from across the business community, NiB works with leading global businesses by sharing best practice. Importantly, those who are actually neurodivergent are key to this organisation to ensure that NiB keeps true to the aims of the neurodivergent community. NiB’s mission is to help develop a more inclusive workplace. Whether it is ensuring a better hiring process that does not exclude neurodivergent candidates, to helping identify easy modifications to the workplace environment that can support sustainable employment opportunities. By ensuring a more neurodiverse workforce, businesses are not simply fulfilling some corporate social responsibility programme; they materially and commercially benefit. Those from a neurodivergent background can contribute in meaningful ways to business growth through their single-mindedness, attention to detail, innovative thinking patterns, diligence and creativity. They do however require better support than is currently available – and that is where NiB can help. We know that businesses are under pressure as never before to do more for the world they operate in. But we also know that by bringing businesses together, this can be addressed effectively and ensure that everyone benefits: businesses; neurodivergent individuals and society at large.

NiB at the UN !
Founder and Chairperson of Neurodiversity in Business charity | Award winning Neurodiversity Activist
HUGE OPPORTUNITY: We're off to the United Nations headquarters in New York, but need your help today with comments on how to create a neuroinclusive world. What do global leaders need to hear about neurodiversity? In my biggest 'pinch-me' moment so far, I'm thrilled to attend the UN's annual #Disability conference in June. However, I'm nervous...... This is such a massive stage that only through the right consultation with the #Neurodiversity community will we get the right outcome i.e. to #ChangeTheWorld. 👂I'm all ears!..........Please help today in informing me as to the most pressing topics that leaders across the world need to understand about building a #NeuroInclusive world? I've made a start with six themes I've been hearing recently (see comments) , but for sure I've missed important topics, and I've not reflected each topic comprehensively. 💕 Please tag in those people who have voices that should be heard, and those who are doing great things across the world to help inform the debate. ⁉️PS: Help me fill in the gaps, and prioritise what should be raised on this amazing world stage! I need your comments today! Also, if you don't have detailed thoughts, just let me know which country you are from. Image ID: Top left photo shows the UN Headquarters with lots of nations' flags. If you would like to attend, please register your expression of interest here: https://lnkd.in/esGhnHPj Image description: Grey background with white wording which reads “Learn about the 2024 Neurodiversity in Business research study. Important topic to consider:
Founder and Chairperson of Neurodiversity in Business charity | Award winning Neurodiversity Activist
Tired of invisible disabilities being just so darn “invisible”? I am, here is why and how you can help… Getting on an international train recently there was explicit and proactive support offered for: 🫂People in wheelchairs: makes sense 🫂The infirm: of course, they need help 🫂Pregnant women: yes, I agree on that 🫂Blind and deaf people: sure, good idea 🫂Those with dogs: hey, wait up a minute!… So, people who have dogs with them have priority support, and yet there is no explicit consideration for those with invisible disabilities! I politely questioned and challenged (you know me!) ‘It’s just semantics.’ ‘It’s just some pictures.’ ‘You are covered by the internationally accepted symbol for disability (the man in the wheelchair)’ I’m sorry but it’s not OK. And it’s not ‘just words’. Because of this sinage we were questioned four times in only 30 minutes by employees of the train company. #TheJoshieMan loves trains. As I advocate for #AutismAcceptance, I’m sad when he has to hear a discussion about his disabilities in public all because society still does not recognise that: NOT ALL DISABILITIES ARE VISIBILE Who is with us here on this? You can help us today to #ChangeTheWorld by supporting this post. ⁉️PS: Put in the comments where you or your family member have suffered from society forgetting invisible disabilities. Or where have you seen good practice that made you feel those with invisible disabilities were truly included. Image ID: Blue noticeboard which has the title of “Priority seats” and then the pictures described above. **Edit: Thanks to those that pointed out the image is not just people with dogs but they are support dogs.
