Last week our #trainees had an enriching experience visiting the European University Institute (EUI) and the Historical Archives of the European Union, gaining valuable insights into the history of European integration.    The visit was a significant milestone, offering our trainees the chance to engage with the rich cultural and historical heritage of the EUI and gain a deeper understanding of the European Union's institutions and values.   A great experience for all involved. 🐔 #AvianInfluenza | 📣 We just published our advice on how to carry out surveillance in vaccinated areas and farms & possible risk mitigation measures. Our experts assessed whether the available surveillance strategies could demonstrate freedom from avian influenza thereby enabling the safe movement of poultry and related products.   Frank Verdonck, head of our Biological Hazards and Animal Health & Welfare Unit, said: “Vaccination is an important tool in the fight against avian influenza and is recommended as part of an integrated disease control approach. Nonetheless, there is a need to follow up with a strategic surveillance scheme and implement measures to reduce the risk of virus transmission”.
