Our Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, Arne Matthyssen, was one of the expert panellists who addressed the topic of 'The underestimated threat of cyber attacks and how it affects national space capabilities' at Space-Comm Expo yesterday. ⤵️ Below he shares some key insights from the discussion. #SpaceCommExpo2024 #SCE24 #cybersecurity #concurrentdesign #securitybydesign
Hi all, If you didn't get a chance to follow the panel session about 'The underestimated threat of cyber attacks and how it affects national space capabilities' at #spacecommexpo2024, here are some of the topics that the panel covered. Thinking about the vulnerabilities and solutions, the cybersecurity threats are almost the same to space infrastructure as they are to terrestrial infrastructure, obviously both have their peculiarities, but they are so intertwined that we can’t see them as separate. The solutions to cybersecurity are not necessarily/exclusively to be found in the technology, but also in being innovative in the concept of operations, the processes you apply. We have to ensure that the full supply and value chain is aware of the cyber threats and the mitigations, and we have to share this information, e.g. via space information sharing and analysis centers. When the panel raised security-by-design I could not resist to emphasize the value of using concurrent design and to include Security as any other engineering domain to recognize and consider security requirements from the start throughout the full life cycle of any programme. Dr Sharon Lèmac-Vincere mentioned the cyber simulator which she and her team are developing as a means to raise awareness, do training and build skilled engineers and professionals of the future. The #rheagroup Cyber Digital Twin, CITEF, is geared to do that by virtualizing and emulating existing (or designs of future) infrastructures and to assess their behavior to cyber threats. I envisage such Cyber Digital Twin in combination with generative AI , generating many, unexpected and innovative attack scenarios and, more importantly, innovative and effective mitigation solutions. New and emerging technologies need to be embraced as a positive opportunity, they are enablers to do what we want to do, and what we need to do, including creating novel solutions against cyber threats. Big thanks to Chuck Brooks, Stefanie Grundner, Dr Sharon Lèmac-Vincere and Richard G. #space #cyber #digitaltwins #qkd #pqc #generativeai

Had an awesome time at Innotech Dallas with Kyla Kennemer! AI was the topic on everyone’s mind so naturally…. AI helped me write this as well! I had the pleasure of attending the recent InnoTech Conference in Dallas, where industry leaders converged to explore the latest trends and innovations in technology. One topic that stood out to me was the profound impact of Artificial Intelligence on Cybersecurity. In today's digital landscape, cyber threats are evolving at an unprecedented pace, becoming more sophisticated and challenging to detect. AI is playing a pivotal role in enhancing our defense mechanisms by providing real-time threat intelligence, automating responses, and augmenting human capabilities. During the conference, experts highlighted how AI is revolutionizing cybersecurity, enabling organizations to proactively identify vulnerabilities, predict and prevent attacks, and respond swiftly to incidents. It was fascinating to see how AI-powered solutions are not only improving security posture but also driving efficiencies and reducing operational costs. As we navigate the complexities of the digital age, it's imperative for businesses to embrace AI as a strategic asset in their cybersecurity strategy. By harnessing the power of AI, we can stay one step ahead of cyber threats and safeguard our digital assets. I'm excited to continue exploring the synergies between AI and cybersecurity and look forward to implementing innovative solutions that will shape the future of cybersecurity. #AI #Cybersecurity #InnoTech #Dallas #Technology #Innovation #DigitalTransformation
