Graduate Research Assistant and doctoral student at the Centre for Translation Studies (ZTW), University of Vienna
MEDICAL TRANSLATORS WANTED! As a former project manager and medical translator, I've seen first-hand how tricky it can be to translate medical texts aimed at patients. But why is this the case and could this process be made easier? As part of my PhD project at the University of Vienna, I'm conducting a questionnaire on patient-facing medical translation. I want to find out what are the main challenges encountered by medical translators when working on texts for patients, and whether speech and translation technologies may help overcome these issues. If you have worked on translations of medical texts such as Informed Consent Forms or Patient Information Leaflets, I'd love to hear from you! Please consider filling out the short questionnaire below about your experiences and help advance research in this field. https://lnkd.in/dnpAPzkJ Thank you! #medicaltranslation #xl8 #translators #research #questionnaire

Announcing the publication of a co-edited collection with Federico Federici on the essential role of translation and interpreting as risk reduction and management tools in crisis communication. We have 25 excellent chapters from lots of perspectives, including important contributions from frontline organisations such as New Zealand Red Cross, Emergencias SA, Amnesty International, GOAL Global, IOM - UN Migration, International Federation of Translators (FIT), and many more great contributions. Collectively, we argue that the lack of consideration of translation and interpreting is a serious blindspot in crisis response, impacts on well-being and on human rights. #translation #crisiscommunication #crisismanagement #humanrights Dublin City University, UCL https://lnkd.in/ewhhktR7
