James Robson holds up a trio of pledges that a Labour government might consider in any bid to align education with the skills needed for UK prosperity. #education #sustainability https://lnkd.in/e5WQD8n9

This particularly disappointing as Andy Haldane when he was chief economist had both encouraged model innovation in terms of agent based modelling and creating regional capacity to understand what was really going on. Since his exit I presume there has been a reversion to the norm. #economics #banking
Bernanke was always the wrong person for this job. He was a central banker marking another central banker’s homework, without ever questioning the assumptions on which the central bank worked. This investigation was doomed from the outset as a consequence.
Ben Bernanke’s review of the Bank of England was doomed from the outset because he didn’t ask the right questions

Do join what should be an interesting discussion about how to scale up local food systems. #foodsecurity #climatcrisis
For those of you involved in the food, growing, and health & well-being sectors, or have an interest in strengthening local communities, you might sometimes wonder: Is it actually possible to design a functional and scalable local food economy in the UK? Is it possible to encourage all citizens, including those from less advantaged households, to enjoy healthy and locally-grown or produced food, affordably? To regenerate our land and our local communities as well as our bodies? If you'd like to hear potential answers to these questions, then you're welcome to attend and contribute to an upcoming panel discussion I'll be chairing on Tues 23rd April, with a panel of experts - touching on food, farming, economics, supply chains, policy, and history: https://lnkd.in/exc4ixeS See you then and have a great weekend! #food #healthyfood #foodaccess #foodjustice #health #nutrition #regenerativefarming #organic #localcurrency #local #community #policy #economics #regeneration Henry Leveson-Gower FRSA Clarke Willis MBE Michael Weatherburn PhD Lynne Davis Six Inches of Soil Deirdre (Dee) Woods Sarah Langford Olivia Shave Jenny Jefferies Colin Ramsay Claire Mackenzie Mel Bradley MBE Antony Yousefian Ryan Cameron Cameron Davies Henry Dimbleby Mike Berners-Lee

Friday’s Fresh Economic Thinking from The Mint Magazine (on Saturday!) "The jump in average temperature in 2023 described as “gobsmakingly bananas” by one scientist might have put the tin lid on hopes of escaping a climate crisis, but this followed regular increasingly scary warnings from scientists." My first word for our latest issue on facing up to the increasing instability of our climate and its economic impacts. #climatecrisis #doomster https://lnkd.in/evgvQ7-d
