A fantastic day to kick off London Tech Week 📢Opening the mainstage, Rishi Sunak shared his commitment to making the UK the leader on safe, innovative AI by working with companies Google DeepMind OpenAI and Anthropic to understand potential risks, launching two fellowships to enhance machine learning in drugs and food design and AI scientist training, and hosting the world’s first ever global summit on AI safety later this autumn. 🏦 I moderated a panel with Jeremy Hunt where HSBC launched the rebrand of SVB to HSBC Innovation Banking we also discussed the uniquely important collaboration between government and the private sector at the time of SVB's collapse, and how this partnership was key in the longrun for the tech sector. 💡 An exoskeleton to help children with Cerebral Palsy walk, and an AI personal trainer mirror made by MAGIC AI mirror are just two of the exhibitions I visited who are harnessing the power of technology to help make people’s lives better or easier. 📡 At the International Telecomms Diversification Conference, Sir John Whittingdale announced new funding, installations and agreements to improve digital connectivity and internet access across the UK, including a OneWeb terminal on Papa Stour, Shetland which will bring lightning-fast broadband via satellites. 🌏 I met with high-growth unicorns and futurecorns from the Indo-Pacific region London Stock Exchange and was delighted to witness the strong interest in the UK as a top destination for investment. Bringing together tech companies from across the UK, the event is an important opportunity to open a dialogue with industry, academia and policymakers on the vision government has to make the UK the best place for responsible, innovative tech, big and small, to flourish.
