How do I write a CV when I don't have anything to show for my experience? How do you ask me to provide 2 years experience when I just graduated from the university? Well, as an entry-level professional, none of these should stop you from landing your dream job. One thing to note is that the candidate with the most experience is not always the preferred candidate or the one to get the job. Recruiters look out for more than just the experience you have acquired. They look out for passion, willingness to learn, and many more. You have to demonstrate who you are and why you're the best fit for the job. For your CV to stand out, you must stand up. What is your recent achievement? Take a step back. Think. Did you just publish a paper? Prepared a proposal? Completed a project? Then it's time to update your CV. Use your latest achievement as evidence and leverage to apply for new positions, get a new job, or move elsewhere. You now have a strong point to back you up. Don't just see your work as "another work" or "business-as-usual", that's what your boss wants you to think so you'll continue serving them. Omit certain positions from your experience section that are not relevant to the role you're applying for. 𝟮) 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. If you held multiple roles over a 12-month period, position this as a year's experience and list the companies underneath as if they were accounts or clients. 𝟯) 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Highlight your achievements with impressive figures to show your value and distract from short contracts. Focusing on your professional summary and experience section on your résumé can distract from the fact that you have had multiple jobs. Remember, there are plenty of legitimate reasons to switch jobs and you shouldn’t be ashamed of doing so. “Do you think my CV Looks good for the position?” I get asked this quite a lot…. The problem with most CV's is getting the information in a condensed format without being pages and pages long. However, this isn’t to say long CVs aren’t wanted. Please let me know about all the projects you cover in extreme detail. But I don’t want to know about the 3 months work you did at Greggs. My Advice? Make your work experience chronological. Makes it easier for the reader. Make your achievements stand out. Tweak your CV to make it stand out to the specific job role. And finally, don’t be afraid to cover all your RELEVENT work. Once again not your Greggs work. Would you add anything???

Updating CV is proven to be one of the most postponed things which job seekers do when searching for job. If you do get the motivation to update it, here are some things you should remove: ⚠ The summer job you worked in 8 years ago - it may not be so relevant any longer ⚠ Your O'Level exam results - unless you are under the age of 18 ⚠ Hobbies which may not bring added value such as Gossiping or Binge drinking competitions ⚠ Your full address - there is no need for full address, town or city is enough ⚠ Cliche adjectives such as "driven", "motivated", "detail-driven", "dynamic". Better to replace with specific achievements obtained at work ⚠ The email address you set up when you were 12, may need an update if it includes inappropriate language or nicknames It would only take 5 minutes to review all of the above, but will be one of the most productive 5 minutes which you invested in your job search #CVwriting #recruitment #jobsearch #maltajobs
