Match Danish companies with international challenges within the Sustainable Development Goals
About us
The purpose of the SDG Landing Pad program is to match Danish companies with international cooperation opportunities within research and sustainable innovation to meet a global demand within the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The innovation centres in Boston, Tel Aviv and Shanghai will identify challenges within the SDGs. Together with the clusters; Danish Life Science Cluster, CLEAN and DigitalLead these challenges will be matched with Danish companies and solutions. The SDG Landing Pad is a premium program in which Danish companies can enter into a tailor-made program and be given tools to work strategically with the SDGs while tapping into the opportunities that lie within the SDGs on the three markets. The SDG Landing Pad is collaboration between Innovation Centre Denmark and the centres in Boston, Tel Aviv and Shanghai and the Danish clusters; Danish Life Science Cluster, CLEAN and DigitalLead and the SDG-agency Rethink. The program is funded by the Danish Industry Foundation and will run as a pilot until June 2023.

"For many traditional companies, the product is the end in itself. But in a sustainable business development, it is to a greater extent a means to solve a social problem. In this way, companies see themselves in a global perspective and constantly assess the difference their technology makes in the world. That adjustment is more difficult to make if it has not been the starting point,” says Nette Kirkegaard, sustainability consultant in the SDG Landing Pad. Hear from Philip Wedgwood from GROUNDED Aps who visited Shanghai as part of the SDG Landing Pad-program 👇
"Through Innovation Centre Denmark in Shanghai, we visited a lot of large and interesting companies. The striking thing was that all of these companies are considering how to implement the green transition and sustainability in their entire production chain. We were quite surprised by that," says Philip Wedgwood, Chief Commercial Officer in GROUNDED Aps. "What was impressive was the companies' awareness that the sustainable shift costs something in the short term. They were fully aware of that. So there is no doubt that China is a future market for us. It's more a question of when," says Philip Wedgwood. The increasing coffee consumption in China combined with a rising focus on the green transition, made GROUNDED Aps the perfect startup to participate in our SDG Landing Pad program. In this program, Innovation Centre Denmark, Shanghai together with Clean and DigitalLead were able to design an internationalization program for GROUNDED Aps which introduced them to relevant Chinese stakeholders. Hear from GROUNDED Aps, Continuum Composite Recycling and TEGnology ApS who visited the Innovation Centre Denmark, Shanghai together with Clean and DigitalLead last spring 👇♻️ Thanks to Industriens Fond for making the program happen 🙌
Hear from three Danish startups who were matched up with Chinese stakeholders in Shanghai's strong innovation ecosystem as part of the SDG Landing Pad program 👋 GROUNDED Aps is behind a circular and green alternative to disposable cups; a coffee cup made from coffee grounds and plant fibers which is biodegradable and compostable both at home, in nature and in the sea. Continuum Composite Recycling has developed a new technology that can transform composite waste into recyclable products for buildings and thus make the construction industry more sustainable. TEGnology ApS has developed a technology that directly converts heat into electricity while eliminating CO2 emissions and the need for complex chemical reactions or moving parts. All three Danish startups have gained a foothold in the Chinese market where Danish green solutions are in high demand. This was a collaboration between Innovation Centre Denmark, Shanghai, Clean and DigitalLead. “Working strategically with the SDGs has given us a common framework globally as well as opened up for new business opportunities,” says Tine Risbæk Jensen, Program Manager, Innovation Centre Denmark. The project SDG Landing Pad is coming to an end after two years of testing and working on different types of internationalization innovation models that will benefit Danish startups.
