Opportunities with Bute Energy…

On behalf of the team, I would like to thank you for your interest in Bute Energy. Our mission is to increase the UK’s renewable energy capacity and to play our part in tackling climate change. Our vision is simple: a sustainable world, now and for future generations.

We are at an exciting point on our journey. Having been self-funded since establishment in 2018, the business has recently partnered with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners to deliver our portfolio of over 2GW of renewable energy projects in Wales. The projects have land and grid offers secured, are well considered and are of utility scale. Our first project planning application will be submitted in Autumn 2022, with more to follow in 2023. All of our projects can be delivered by 2030 in line with Welsh Government objectives.

As the business is moving from project assembly to project delivery stage, we are now looking to grow our team. We have a great team (if I am allowed to say that) with deep experience of renewable energy development, but also experience of other complimentary walks of life and disciplines: they are united by an enthusiasm, curiosity, and passion for what they do. They are also a very friendly and welcoming bunch.

What we are doing as a business is hard, but that challenge also brings professional fulfilment, development, and the chance to create a legacy with the projects we are developing. Our projects will bring significant economic benefits to local communities, and we also have a market-leading community benefit programme.

I hope this site provides a helpful overview of our business, culture and core values set and speaks to a little of who we are and what we are about. Please take some time to read more about us, our reward offering, our vision, mission and values and the various roles we have on offer. If you’d be excited to work for a business like ours, to really make a difference and add value in role, we would love to hear from you.

Warm regards,

Oliver Millican – Managing Director

Bute Energy is a developer of large-scale onshore renewable energy projects in the UK, with a development pipeline in excess of 2GW of generating capacity.

Headquartered in Wales, and with offices in Edinburgh, we are developing a portfolio of energy parks, using the latest proven technology, to deliver ‘utility scale’ onshore renewable power generation.

Our portfolio comprises projects at various stages of development, with the first projects expected to commence construction in 2024. In total, the portfolio of onshore wind farms, solar PV projects and co-located battery energy storage systems could have an installed capacity in excess of 2,000 MW by 2030, making a substantial contribution towards meeting the renewable energy targets of the Welsh Government and the net-zero carbon objectives of the UK Government.

The projects are expected to attract significant investment and to deliver substantial socio-economic benefits to the local and regional economies. We will submit our first planning application in the Autumn of 2022 for the Twyn Hywel Energy Park (https://twynhywelenergypark.wales/), located largely within a Pre-Assessed Area for Wind Energy in Southeast Wales. All our sites can be generating power by 2028, helping to support the Welsh Government’s 2030 targets on the path to Net-Zero.

Our energy parks will form an integral part of the nation’s efforts to tackle climate change, address energy security, and contribute towards reducing the cost of energy whilst also bringing investment and opportunity across the country, alongside significant community benefits.

We were established in 2018 and are now partnering Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), whose investment will allow us to accelerate the development of our portfolio and bring significant supply chain and economic benefits to Wales.

“We are very excited to partner with Bute Energy on the significant portfolio of renewable energy projects in Wales. We look forward to supporting Bute’s development activities and contributing our own expertise in the delivery of large-scale renewable infrastructure investments to deliver projects that will make a significant contribution to the green transition,”
– Christian Skakkebæk, Senior Partner at CIP.

Our vision is simple, we want to create a sustainable world, now and for future generations.

Our mission is to help address the climate crisis by unlocking Wales’ potential for onshore renewable power generation and to bring benefits to local communities where energy parks are created, helping to address the biggest threat facing future generations.

We are committed to delivering green energy and infrastructure that benefits local communities and society and we have harnessed the latest technology combined with the passion and determination of our expert team to achieve this.

Bute Energy is forward-thinking in everything we do, and we are passionate about finding better ways to deliver renewable energy. Our ambitious programme of projects across Wales will help make the transition to a low-carbon society easier for the nation and we will deliver this in a way which empowers communities to get involved at every stage of the process.
