St Mary's hospital: the place of the hospital in medieval Dover - Maison Dieu history talk by Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh

24/05/2023 19:30 to 20:30

As a key institution in the spiritual economy, the development of St Mary's hospital or the Maison Dieu offers an excellent way to explore the history of medieval Dover. This talk will examine relationships between those inside and outside the hospital, leading to its demise as a charitable establishment under its final master. Our speaker is Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh of Canterbury Christ Church University. Free in-person talk at Dover Museum, Market Square, Dover, CT16 1PH.

A small lift (maximum width 775mm) provides access up to the main floor of the building where there is an accessible toilet. Access to the building is being upgraded as part of the current project.
