An outbreak of a new corona virus started in December 2019 and the first infections in the Netherlands have since been confirmed. This virus can cause the so-called COVID-19 disease. Most patients who have this virus are suffering from fever and respiratory symptoms. NHL Stenden University will closely monitor all the developments and will follow the advice given by the Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM)Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the World Health Organisation.

Contact with students

NHL Stenden will remain in close contact with students and members of staff who are working or studying abroad. They will be assisted where and when needed. NHL Stenden is also in touch with students who recently returned to the Netherlands. In this, we will follow the policy of RIVM and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Students and employees who are planning to visit areas that might be infected are referred to the website of the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the RIVM. They are advised to follow the advice and instructions published on these websites.

Contact with the General Practice doctor

Students or members of staff who have been travelling to regions that were infected, don’t immediately have to report themselves. If they do suffer from flu symptoms they need to contact the general practice doctor or the GGD. According to the GGD you don’t have to avoid any contact with those who return from infected regions.
