Carer's passport
A carer's passport is a free ID card for carers that's recognised across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
You can get a carers passport if you help a family member, friend or neighbour who can't manage on their own.
Businesses, emergency services and shops across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland are aware of the passport.
The passport comes as wallet-sized card or a smartphone download.
Carer's passports aim to:
- help carers be more easily recognised
- raise awareness of caring
- recognise the support you provide
- help you access the support and services available to you
- help you collect necessities such as medicines more easily
- identify carers to emergency workers in emergency situations
Parent carer passports
We work in partnership with Rutland Parent Carer Voice to make sure parent carers of children and young people with SEND have proof of their caring responsibilities.
Parent carer passports aim to help:
- raise awareness of the caring responsibilities you have as a parent carer
- you prove you're a parent carer
- you start conversations with other parent carers or practitioners
- you access the support and services available to you
How to get a carer's passport
You can get a carer's passport sent to you in the post when you register with Support for Carers - email carersteam@rutland.gov.uk.
If your child is under 18, you can get a parent carer's passport through Rutland Parent Carer Voice - email rutlandpcv@gmail.com.
If your child is over 18, you can get a parent carer's passport through our carers service - email carersteam@rutland.gov.uk.
