Skills for Care CEO Oonagh Smyth said,

We're looking forward to working with HEE and our sector partners to take the first step in strengthening workforce planning in adult social care. Skills for Care will offer our expertise, data and insights from employers and people who draw on care and support to ensure that workforce planning for registered professionals in the social care workforce such as nurses, social workers and occupational therapists is joined up and meets the needs of those who access care and support. The update will help develop priorities, and address existing issues that we can collectively take forward to help develop an adult social care workforce with professionals in place with the right skills and values. It's essential that we plan for our entire workforce including care and support workers; and Skills for Care will also continue to work with the Department of Health and Social Care, to ensure longer-term proposals include the development of an effective workforce strategy and wider scale, joined up workforce planning for the sector as we enter a period of reform that will shape the whole social care workforce.
