New Yorker Stalking Gia goes for the jugular with her explosive new single “The Kindest Thing"
The New York-based singer/songwriter Stalking Gia steps into her own on her first release in two years.
As soon as you hear what Stalking Gia thinks the kindest thing to do is, you know she means business. “The Kindest Thing” is bombastic goodbye and the first track to be taken from her forthcoming debut EP Season 1 due out later this year.
“The verses sarcastically talk through the highlights of a past relationship,” she explains, “romanticising the average qualities they had to set up the punchline of the song.” And the punch line is ferocious, wrapped up in crashing drums and a swift, chaotic strings “but, the kindest thing you ever did was leave” hits hard.
For Gia “[this] chorus is pure freedom.” Thanks to the track’s largely minimal production that commanding “leave” stands out even more so, and as Gia puts it both feels and looks like “a mad parade storming through a quiet empty street.” It’s a powerful opening statement, and one of intent, for this exciting artist’s new chapter.
