Over-60s most active and least lonely during coronavirus lockdown

Older people are coping better than the young with the mental and emotional strain of the coronavirus lockdown, despite being at greater risk of serious illness, a survey has found.

People over 60 reported the highest levels of life satisfaction at present, with those aged between 18 and 24 suffering most with loneliness and feeling down.

Older people were also complying more with lockdown rules and exercising more than younger age groups.

The study found that stress related to becoming infected with coronavirus was highest among adults aged 30 to 59, even though most are at low risk of serious symptoms.

The Covid-19 social study of 60,000 people by University College London (UCL) is now in its third week. Participants are questioned on how they
