Wavenet has acquired OGL Computer Support Holdings as the company aims to be one of the UK’s most acclaimed telecoms and technology organisations.

The takeover boosts Wavenet’s ability to offer year-round, 24/7 protection against cyber threats, cloud services, and more to its clients.

According to Wavenet, the acquisition means that the company has become one of the largest providers of unified communications, cloud solutions and cyber security services in the UK.

Bill Dawson, CEO of Wavenet, said: “It is an extremely exciting time for Wavenet with this acquisition, OGL IT and CyberGuard Technologies bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, enabling the Wavenet Group to strengthen its offerings and enhance the service provided to our customers.

“They have a talented team who share the same values, and their ambitions match ours of being a customer-focused organisation, putting customer needs at the heart of everything we do.

“I look forward to our continued growth and success as we integrate OGL IT & CyberGuard into the Wavenet Group.”

The acquisition means OGL’s portfolio will be accessible to Wavenet’s existing customer base and allow the company to tap into new markets.

In November last year, Wavenet’s revenue turnover surpassed £100m as it acquired Excell Group.

That acquisition marked the managed service provider’s (MSP) third in a month, following those of ISL and NTS Communications.

Paul Colwell, Chief Technology Officer at OGL, said:

“The acquisition of OGL’s managed IT services and cyber security divisions represents an exciting opportunity for us to extend our reach into new markets and deliver our extensive portfolio of leading solutions across Wavenet’s existing customer base.

“It also helps us forge future growth as we bring together our vast experience and skills. Wavenet demonstrated a real synergy with OGL as a business, which will enable us to continue to deliver a first-class service and even greater value to our customers.

“I am enthusiastic about the future and all that this acquisition will offer to our customers and our staff.”

Wavenet was formed in 2000 and has grown to provide services to over 10,000 businesses.

The company is a Premier Certified Cisco Partner, Microsoft Partner and holds Platinum Partner status with Mitel, Five9 and Silver Peak.

Philip Grannum, Chief Commercial Officer at Wavenet, said: “The integration of the products and services will significantly enhance our opportunities to serve our customers.

“An increasing amount of organisations are outsourcing their IT requirements from infrastructure management to security and monitoring, simply because it is more cost and resource efficient than keeping it in-house.

“This acquisition is in line with our business growth strategy that also includes organic growth, partnerships, and product expansion.”

OGL Computer Support is accredited by leading IT and cyber security vendors, including Microsoft, HP, WatchGuard, and VMware.

The organisation has been delivering IT solutions to over 1,000 UK businesses for more than 45 years.
