Societies

uea(su) offers lots of opportunities for you to enjoy student life away from the textbooks. We like to think that we have something for everyone - and if we don't we can help you to develop new activities that you're passionate about. All our societies are run by student committees who volunteer to bring these activities to you.

Without our volunteers, we would not be able to put on the amazing amount of activities we do. We support all our volunteers with training and advice and there are sometimes grants available to societies. If you would like to start a society, head to our new society page to find out what we can do to help. Societies and peer support groups are a great way for you to meet other students who may be studying something completely different to you but who share a hobby or belief.

Through societies and peer support groups, the SU empowers students to make change in their communities. All of these groups are run by students alongside their studies and provide you with a wide array of opportunities to learn new skills, meet new people and get the most out of your time at UEA.

If you have any accessibility requirements please feel free to get in touch with our student opportunities team who can help liaise with yourself and the society of your interest to ensure that the activity is adapted to your needs - please email us at [email protected]. Societies always welcome new students, but if you are feeling anxious about attending your first event, we recommend getting in touch with the society or the opportunities team who will be able to reduce any concerns you may have.
