Open Positions

The Industrial Painter will set up, operate, and maintain paint application equipment. They will also maintain paint shop inventory. They will also apply all coatings free of runs and sags to create a professional product.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs all duties in accordance with Wendt Corporation’s Safety Manual and OSHA standards.
  2. Safely operates overhead cranes, and hoists using chain and fabric slings to secure and lift heavy loads.
  3. Operate electric and manual pallet truck, and forklift.
  4. Reads and interprets coating specifications then set up jobs per those requirements.
  5. Prepares and cleans parts and assemblies for paint.
  6. Calculates and sets paint sprayer controls to regulate coatings application.
  7. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications and work order.
  8. Maintains daily paint and supplies inventory log.
  9. Apply tags or marks to identify finished parts.
  10. Maintains all materials and supplies in proper racks and storage locations using 5S.
  11. Plans a schedule to utilize the paint facilities as efficiently as possible.
  12. Perform periodic and preventative maintenance on painting equipment and paint booth in a timely and consistent manner.
  13. Other duties as assigned and requested.

Education & Experience:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Vocational school or Associates Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):

  • Skill in reading and interpreting plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Thorough knowledge about painting methods, processes, and techniques.
  • Clean safety record and a strong working knowledge of paint related safety protocols.
  • Attention to details and ability to understand and follow procedures.

Pay Range: $25 – $30 per hour

The Assembler is responsible for building machinery to meet specifications and quality standards.

Essential Functions:

1. The safety of yourself and your coworkers.
2. Practice 5S and Lean principles.
3. Create work plans by studying assembly instructions, work orders, drawings, 3D models, specifications, and parts lists.
4. Move equipment into place utilizing cranes, fork trucks, and other rigging equipment.
5. Leverage the proper tools to achieve desired results.
6. Ensure quality is achieved during build process.
7. Identify opportunities for quality or efficiency improvements.
8. Develop and improve work instructions.
9. Train colleagues as necessary and when requested.
10. Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Education & Experience:

• High school degree or equivalent
• Vocational school or Associates Degree preferred
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• Experience building large electromechanical equipment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, 3D models, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics.
• Electrical and/or hydraulic experience preferred.
• Rigging experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills. Any CAD experience preferred.
• Ability to calculate and acquire dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and proper instruments.
• Clean safety record. Certifications and advanced training preferred.

Pay Range: $25-$30/hour

The Field Service Technician (FST) performs installation, commissioning, and repair work at customer sites. They troubleshoot problems arising in the equipment to identify root cause so it can be returned to normal operating parameters. During installation and commissioning of new equipment they work to ensure results meet or exceed performance standards and that customers are trained and satisfied.  Technical cross-training, safety, and travel flexibility are fundamental requirements of the position.

Essential Functions:

  1. Diagnose and repair equipment either in our own shop or by travelling to the location of the customer.
  2. Install and commission new equipment at the customer site.
  3. Ensure customer satisfaction at all times as a priority.
  4. Test and calibrate equipment to ensure it is meeting minimum performance standards.
  5. Provide telephone, email, and text support to the customer in order to perform troubleshooting or training.
  6. When not in the field, perform equipment assembly and test in the shop to support manufacturing and/or any other work in the shop for which they are qualified.
  7. Supervise, instruct, direct, and assign work to shop employees who may be at a customer site assisting with work there and be responsible for the work they oversee.
  8. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the equipment and processes by providing timely and organized feedback to the company.
  9. Prepare and distribute required reports in a timely manner.
  10. Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Advanced vocational degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial equipment industry
  • Experience traveling to perform service or installations preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics.
  • Basic computer skills for email, word processing, and using the internet.
  • Advanced computer skills preferred, such as; PC OS/admin, installing/repairing networks, and similar skills.
  • Experience using one or more of the following tools: lathe, milling machine, drill press, and/or vertical/horizontal cut off saw.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude, preferably with heavy machine building experience.
  • Advanced hydraulic and/or electrical installation and/or repair experience preferred.
  • Basic rigging experience.  Advanced experience with large outdoor lifts preferred.
  • Clean safety record.  Certifications and advanced training preferred.
  • Ability to calculate and acquire dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Basic working knowledge of PLC’s.  Advanced experience and basic programming abilities preferred.
  • Ability to travel frequently (>50%), sometimes with short notice, and potentially long durations.
  • Ability to leave the country.

Pay Range: $26-$37/hour

The Electrical Designer is responsible for designing and detailing products for use in the company’s core product lines. Responsibilities include designing and detailing capital equipment and electrical hardware used in the metal recycling industry. Work will generally be done under the guidance of an Engineer or other more senior staff member.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize mastery of solid modeling and CAD skills to design, assemble and detail parts, assemblies, and schematics for internal and 3rd Party equipment.
  • Work with senior engineering staff to ensure designs are released and available in a timely matter to meet project schedule.
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain team and foster an environment that encourages suggestions and product improvements from the supply chain.
  • Learns and follows established work practices.
  • Produce high quality drawings to company standards.
  • Able to both create designs from scratch as well as derivative designs from existing products.
  • Employ Design for Manufacturing (DFM) rules to achieve maximum cost benefit to produce parts and assemblies.
  • Leverage commonality and library components to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience:

  • Associates of Arts (AS) degree in Electrical Design or Engineering similar curriculum or equivalent work experience is required. Bachelors of Science (BS) Electrical Engineering Technology Preferred.
  • Experience in preparing electrical drawings, including single lines, schematics, electrical bills of material, equipment layouts, cable schedules, etc. Preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Basic knowledge of electrical equipment, components, wiring for Low Voltage 3-phase and single phase systems AC and DC.
  • AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent solid modeling tools experience. AutoCAD Inventor preferred.
  • Highly skilled in solid and parametric modeling, as well as solid modeling data management, and schematic capture.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes; panel building, welding, steel fabrication, plate cutting, and machining.
  • Strong drafting skills, particularly; electrical schematics, weldments, sheet metal, machining, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Understands basic MRP and ERP procedures as they pertain to manufacturing.
  • Comprehension of costed bills of materials and their use in designing and building equipment.

Pay Range: $65,000-$75,000/year

The Electrical Engineer works under the direction of a senior member of the staff to provide design, engineering, programming, and other customer support functions of the electrical engineering group. This role will interact with other groups within the company to supply customer support from quoting through design, build, install, and service.

  1. Design of electrical schematics and other project documents using AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
  2. Development of quotes for new sales and service opportunities.
  3. Provide direct technical support to customers and colleagues in the field. Ensure customer satisfaction at all times as a priority.
  4. Onsite and remote PLC programming.
  5. System design and calculations.
  6. Efficiently manage multiple active projects at varying stages of progress.
  7. Up to 15% travel to customer sites, both domestic and internationally.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in schematic design using AutoCAD. AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
  • PLC programming experience preferred.
  • At least one year of experience with each of the following; electrical engineering analysis, supporting calculations, wire sizing, and voltages.
  • Hands on experience as an electrician doing wiring and I/O check out work preferred.

As a member of the technical staff, the Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the design and development of control systems for metal processing equipment from product conceptualization through end user training.  The individual will work with direction from the Electrical Engineering Manager and will interact with other Mechanical and Electrical Engineers as well as the field implementation team, site Program Manager, and Customer to ensure that the end product is operating to the customer’s standard.  A strong desire for being hands on is essential to the success of this role along with being able to effectively communicate with all levels of the WENDT CORPORATION staff and customers.  This position requires multiple site visits throughout the lifecycle of a customer’s project.

  • Conceptualize, engineer, specify, and commission control systems as a lead engineer.
  • Design of electrical schematics and other project documents using AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.

  • Deliver training to end user customers.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in schematic design using AutoCAD.  AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
  • Five (5) years PLC programming experience using Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 and RSLogix 500.
  • Five (5) years of HMI touch screen programming and experience using FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
  • Five (5) years of Engineering experience designing and implementing electrical systems for large manufacturing or industrial equipment.  Specific experience in the scrap metal, mining, or quarry industries preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience with each of the following; electrical engineering analysis, supporting calculations, wire sizing, and voltages.
  • Experienced as an electrician doing wiring and I/O check out.
  • Very strong customer interaction and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Advanced computer skills, such as; PC OS/admin, installing/repairing industrial networks (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet) and similar skills.
  • Any hydraulic experience preferred.
