The Mayor's Safer Communities Fund takes money recovered from criminal activities, and grants it to community-based projects that are making their local area safer.
Community groups working to improve safety are being urged to apply for a share of £1 million of funding made available today by the Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin.
Over £330,000 of cash seized from criminals is set to benefit victims of crime in West Yorkshire, thanks to funding from the Mayor of West Yorkshire.
The Mayor’s fund is financed from monies recovered by West Yorkshire Police under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 lets the police and prosecutors confiscate or recover the proceeds of crime from criminals.
