Kali Uchis feat. Rico Nasty – “Aquí Yo Mando”

We are being fed this Friday! Who better than Kali Uchis to usher in a scorching hot summer on a sexier-than-sexy tropical rap beat. “Aquí Yo Mando”. The track, which translates into HBIC (head bitch in charge) mantra “I Am The Boss”, derives from Uchis’ sophomore album, which also doubles as her first Spanish language project. With Rico Nasty also jumping on the track, the two dazzle while delivering sharp one-liners over body-popping bass. You best bet we’ll be streaming this on repeat until they get that much-deserved number 1.

Mimi Webb – “I’ll Break My Heart Again”

If you’re in your feels this weekend, Mimi Webb’s “I’ll Break My Heart Again” is about to take the baton from you. This is Webb’s second single, following on from the equally emotive “Before I Go”. Already it seems Webb has carved out her own niche of balladic pop, packed with vocal dynamite and stirring instrumentals, and on “I’ll Break My Heart Again” things are no different. “Being with somebody helps/But if I’m honest with myself – I’ll break my heart again” echo Webb’s raspy vocals over eye-watering piano chords, with an incumbent pop storm brewing. After erupting in a bittersweet release of the track’s beautifully chaotic tension, we’re left reeling, heartbroken, and hungry for more.

Sam Fischer – “The Usual”

Get into the poignant and raw sound of Australian born singer Sam Fischer. Having burst on to the scene earlier this year with the captivating and intriguing Not A Hobby EP, Fischer’s insane work ethic has already led him to another project, Homework. Kicking things off on this emotional journey is “The Usual”, a mellow and stripped-back track about a former record deal being pulled from under his feet at the last minute. Fischer peppers the track with his dynamic vocal power and deeply introspective lyrical talent, enchanting and enamouring his listener with breathless ease. Spoiler: the ending is definitely a good one. Fischer eventually rebounded on to bigger and better things, what with securing a support slot on tour with Lewis Capaldi across the US last year and even dominating the social media beast that is Tik Tok. Even more good things are sure to come for this vocal enigma.

Baker Grace – “Keeper”

Building up to the release of her much-anticipated sophomore EP Yourz Truly, American singer-songwriter Baker Grace is blessing us with the utterly melodic “Keeper”. Full of earworm choruses and sickly sweet vocals, “Keeper” is the latest shell in Grace’s ocean which has garnered over 30 million streams from fans across the globe. With her most deeply personal and probing lyrics to date, Baker Grace brings all the charm and inhibition back to pop we’ve so desperately been craving.

Elise LeGrow – “Evan”

Slow, solemn and utterly gorgeous, Elise LeGrow’s “Evan” is an ode to friendship. Reinventing the dynamic rockabilly blueprint of the 1950s, “Evan” tells the story of LeGrow’s friend who was killed over a decade ago. As a case which is unsolved still to this day, LeGrow mourns what could have been for Evan, blending classic R&B with light melodies and gut-punching lyrics. LeGrow’s storytelling abilities are second to none here, we’ll surely be keeping an eye out on what’s to come for this dreamy lyricist.
