‘Ordnance Survey has been mapping Great Britain since 1791 – today it's integral to life, on average we rely on OS data 42 times a day – from banking and deliveries to emergency response and property searches, and every time we use our utilities. It’s exciting to partner with them for our latest concept store, to delve into the expertise and innovation that underpins the age old activity – walking’ Anya Hindmarch

For our first concept store of 2024, we’re delighted to partner with Ordnance Survey to bring ‘Anya Says Walk’ to The Village in Chelsea, from 6th January to 25th February. Inspired by Anya’s love of walking, the space is dedicated to the pastime. Working closely with Ordnance Survey – who as part of their vast and vital impact, have digitally mapped over 7 million routes across Britain – we’ve curated a line-up of experts and specialist products, from walking bags to Anya Says Walk branded accessories, all presented in a wonderfully ambling-focused space.

Ordnance Survey

The original geospatial experts, Ordnance Survey is Great Britain’s national mapping service, a public corporation of the government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology with the autonomy to operate with substantial day-to-day independence. For over 200 years, OS has been triangulating and recording the geographical features of the British Isles – from military mapping in the early 1800s to introducing the National Grid in 1936, the organisation has been integral to recording and maintaining the mapping of Britain.

In the seventies, OS pioneered the digitisation of mapping, leading to the creation of a national geographic database, which now contains more than 500 million man made and natural landscape features and 33 million addresses. Today the brand’s paper maps are still in circulation, and it has pioneered the digital mapping of over 7 million routes across Britain. OS makes 20,000 updates to the mapping database every day, surveys 100,000 square kilometres of Britain every year. Vital to day to day life, we rely on OS data 42 times a day on average, including banking, logistics, deliveries, property searches, using our utilities, sat nav and much more.
